In June 2008 along with countless cattle, sheep and horses, Lomond Homes made its debut at the Royal Highland Show. Having not attended the show previously it was with some nervousness that we arrived on the Wednesday before the show to set up our stand and advertising.

The Royal Highland Show is a four-day event showcasing rural and agricultural life. It is also Scotland's biggest outdoor event and one of the UK's top agricultural shows. The 2008 show welcomed over 161,000 visitors to the showground at Ingliston, Edinburgh. Over 1000 exhibitors attended and more than 4000 animals took part. For much of Scotland's farming community the show is one of the most important events of the year, but its appeal is also more wide ranging, attracting visitors of all ages and walks of life for a great day out.

Our intention was to meet landowners from the farming and equestrian community, generally to raise our brand awareness and to develop the relationship with some of our existing valued clients. We were kindly offered the opportunity to sponsor the Riders' and Sponsors' Hospitality Area which had prime position next to the Show Jumping Ring and we even had our own branded horse jump constructed. As you can see from the photographs this gave us a high profile position and an excellent environment in which to meet those people involved with or connected to the Show Jumping.

A total of 8 members of staff were needed to man the stand over a four-day period. A good deal of thanks must go to them for making the event so successful and enjoyable, along with employees of the Royal Highland Show and Ron Brady who helped guide us through what was a new but positive experience.

Hopefully we will see you at the show next year and the sun will shine once again!
